On March 2, 2012, students and their parents were treated to a night of storytelling by Mrs. Paula Rooney. Fractured Fairy Tales was the theme for this year's Literacy Night, which was sponsored by the PTO. One of the featured stories was based on the book, Falling for Rapunzel, by Leah Wilcox. Mrs. Reinke, our principal, played the role of Rapunzel and one of our parents, Mr.Hurley, joined in the fun by portraying the Prince. Mrs. Rooney also wrote a fractured fairy tale in honor of the students at our school entitled, Goldilocks and the 7 Little Men.

On Thursday, January 5th the district held its annual school level competition of the National Geographic Bee. The following ten students represented 4th-8th grade: Andrew Jin, Alya Luteyn, Sarah Turek, Gabe Matson, Danny Weber, Kaya Shipkowski, Norvin Briones, Dylan Walker, Noah Clark and Jacob Vogt. The audience first answered questions from the National Geographic website with our smart clickers, then the competition got started with 8th grader Noah Clark coming in second and our repeat champion 6th grader Danny Weber winning it on a question about Timbuktu - good luck to him as he will take a test to qualify for state. |
