Two students were recognized at the February School Board Meeting - Alex Brouwer and Corey Scudder. Mrs. Kersten shared her thoughts about Alex. Alex is a very special student. No matter what is going on in Alex's life, she walks into class each day with a smile on her face. Many times, she is carrying the latest picture of her beautiful niece. Alex's work ethic is commendable. She puts her best effort into everything she does. Most students get their work in on time, but Alex goes one step beyond and often times, has her work done a few days early. One of the most admirable things about Alex is how much she cares for her classmates. She is always happy to help out, if anyone one needs it. So, congratulations Alex! This is an honor you truly deserve. Congratulations to Alexandra Brouwer on being someone who has made a difference in the lives of others in Winfield School District 34!
Ms. Demos shared her thoughts about Corey. Corey has shown many qualities that are exceptional for an 8th grader. His determination to improve his academic skills has led him to being on the honor roll for second quarter. He demonstrates leadership ability while working with classmates both during class and during advisory. He truly cares about others’ feelings and can empathize with them.
Mr. Tyle shared his thoughts about Corey, as well. In addition to continually improving academically over the last 2 ½ years, Corey has been an invaluable help in the lab. Over this time period he has consistently worked in the lab during his advisory period. He knows what is required and is able to lead others in tasks to complete. Over summer vacation he came in weekly to help maintain the facility and we greatly appreciate the effort he has shown for us. Congratulations to Corey Scudder on being someone who has made a difference in the lives of others in Winfield School District 34!

Two students were recognized at the December School Board Meeting - Alex VanDoren and Jaci Doncoes
Mrs. Kahlfeldt and
Mrs. Kersten refer to Alex as hard-working and eager to learn. They believe
that Alex takes great pride in his work and in his studies. If he is struggling
at all with a skill or concept, he takes the time to ask questions in order to
better understand the material. Alex is well liked by his peers and has
many friends. He participates in activities at school and also outside of
school. Alex is a terrific student and citizen. They are proud of him! Congratulations to Alex VanDoren on being someone who has
made a difference in the lives of others in Winfield School District 34!
Mrs.
Johnson states that Jaci is every teacher’s dream student! She feels Jaci
definitely gives her all in math. But she is more than someone with this great
work ethic and thoroughness; she is a kind and compassionate person. Mrs.
Johnson has seen this in math class, as well as in Book Café this quarter. Her
kind and encouraging ways are felt by all of those around her. Mr.
Kahlfeldt agrees with Mrs. Johnson. What impresses him is how
responsible Jaci is and that she always does her best work. She comes prepared
to class and seeks out her teachers when returning after an absence to see
what she has missed. He believes Jaci certainly deserves this
recognition. Congratulations to Jaci Doncoes on being someone who has
made a difference in the lives of others in Winfield School District 34! |

Two students were recognized at the October School Board Meeting - Natalie Thompson and Nick Karales
Mrs. Hennessy refers to Natalie as a quiet leader. She is
sensitive to the needs of others and looks for ways to make sure those around
her find happiness in their day. Natalie approaches tasks as opportunities to
expand her own horizons and goes above expectations to do a job well done.
Natalie has adjusted very well to the Middle School routine,
according to Mrs. Kahlfeldt. She is prepared and on time to class.
She shares great insight in class discussions and often tends to go the
"extra mile" when it comes to her school work. She is eager to
learn and puts forth much effort to learn as much as she can about the topics
we are learning about.
Congratulations to Natalie Thompson on being someone who has made
a difference in the lives of others in Winfield School District 34! Nick Karales has made quite an impression on the staff in the short
time he has been at Winfield Central School! This fall, he joined the soccer
team and Coach Memler stated that Nick worked hard to improve his soccer
skills. In fact, he was one of the players who made the most improvement
throughout the season!
Mrs. Kahfeldt feels that Nick has been a great addition to our
Winfield community. He "jumped" right into the 8th grade
Spanish curriculum with both feet!! He had never taken Spanish before
this year (just French) and worked very hard to catch up on what he missed in
6th and 7th grade more than could have been expected! Nick is also
very kind, polite and respectful to the adults around him, as well as his
peers.
Congratulations to Nick Karales on being someone who has made a
difference in the lives of others in Winfield School District 34!
